Sadly, as of 7pm April 7th 2008 Cafe Zesta has shut its doors. There were some unresolved financial issues which spurred this decision and we, the staff, are all very sad about it. The decision was not an easy one.
In the event that you would like to contact our wonderful chef, Maria Cooper, please email her at zestachef@gmail.com. She is available for catering and personal chef gigs as well as kudos for her job well done.
In the event you’d like to contact Maggie Gourlay, the driving force behind many of the gluten-free, allergen-free, vegan baked goods and the general manager of the cafe please email her at cafe.zesta@gmail.com. She is available for pretty much anything you have to throw at her for money as she has two young’uns to feed
Our Assistant Manager Eric Isbell is also available for employment and can be reached at eric_isbell@yahoo.com. Eric has more than 10 years management experience and a sunny disposition.
Lastly, if you enjoyed Cafe Zesta please please comment and let us know things you enjoyed or things you will miss. We all worked very hard to make this cafe a reality and will miss you all very much!!

How is it you guys are gone?!? I’m quite devastated!! Not only was your food amazing…every single thing I tried was amazing…but you’re also coming at this whole thing from the right camp. What a statement…is having a truly values-driven business (local, healthy, whole, natural/organic) really that hard to do in this economy? Even in a town like Boulder??
I was so excited, both when you were Anjou and then even much more so when you became Zesta, that I’d finally found a viable downtown option for lunch…a place that served food like I’d make if I had time to make lunch, and now that you’re gone I’m very very sad.
Thanks for what you guys did when you were around…and please keep me posted if you reincarnate again somewhere close by (saw the sign on the door that said you might in the fall)!
Bummer. Truly.

Oh, I am SO disappointed. I just discovered Cafe Zesta; ate there for the first time last week and was looking forward to being a frequent visitor. Not only was your food really yummy and healthy, but as someone who cannot eat gluten, I was very excited to have found a gluten-free bakery. I hope that you all find other venues to provide your wonderful wares… and let your former customers know where you are!

Thanks Susan. I appreciate your words. We are sad as well and will miss serving all of our wonderful customers. I’ll be doing some private chef work and catering starting in the next week or two. There will be very affordable options, so don’t hesitate to check it out. Please email me if you’re interested at chefmariacooper@gmail.com. There is a good chance I’ll be the head chef at a spot near CU in September. I’ll keep ya’ll informed. Keep eating good food and go to the farmer’s market on Saturday!!
Big love
